She had an early understanding of children who have mental and physical disabilities. She wrote the book unaware a year later her own son would be diagnosed with special needs.
By observing her father volunteering with children who have mental or physical disabilities at a horse ranch, she began volunteering herself and has come into contact with so many wonderful teachers and volunteers who have dedicated their lives to helping children. They themselves should be considered heroes too!
Kacey is on a mission to prevent the future bullying of children who have special needs. She hopes to create a more compassionate generation of children who help and befriend children who have special needs not bully them!

One of the hardest elements of meeting a child or adult with special needs, is explaining it to a child. Especially if that "ability" isn't visible.
Putting into words what a child is witnessing and in-turn putting it into something they can understand; it can be a struggle for some adults. Not everyone has had exposure to a person with special needs and like every individual person, special needs are unique.
So many names can be used to describe special needs, the playful storyline in this book emphasizes the abilities found in disabilities. Characterizing special needs as superpowers is a fun and unique way to help explain a unique person!
Ideally you will enjoy teaching a child about people with special needs, to help build compassion and create understanding. The goal of this book is to help children earlier in life and hopefully prevent future bullying; helping children with special needs enjoy their environment like all children should!
